Müge Satar (Boğaziçi University) and Ciara Wigham (Université Blaise Pascal) will give the fourth seminar of #HUMANtalks series. Their talk will be on “INSTRUCTION-GIVING SEQUENCES IN TASK-BASED ONLINE TEACHING PRACTICES OF FRENCH TEACHER TRAINEES” and it will take place on the 7th of October, at 15:00 in the Faculty of Education Block-B Meeting Hall. Müge Satar will give a presentation on their research with Ciara Wigham’s participation via teleconferencing.

This is to let you know that the vice-director of HUMAN Research Centre, Ufuk Balaman, has completed and defended his thesis entitled “A Conversation Analytic Study on the Development of Interactional Competence in English in an Online Task-Oriented Environment”.

This is the first conversation analytic thesis on online task-based interaction in Turkey. Ufuk’s thesis can be downloaded from this link in pdf format.

In our next data session, Merve Hırçın Çoban (MA student, Hacettepe University) will present an extract from her corpus of paired interactions in EFL Oral Proficiency Assessment in a higher education setting. The session will take place in the meeting room of HUMAN Research Centre on 5 May, Thursday at 3:00 p.m.

The last reading group meeting of the semester will be held next Tuesday at 15:30 (26th of April) in the meeting room of HUMAN Research Centre. We will read and discuss Mondada’s seminal work on multimodality this week.
